I traded some lyrics I wrote for my band to an ice cream company for a jingle, should they be pissed at me?

I go two quarts of ice cream for them and I shared it with the band but they said I should have checked with them first or at least let our agent negotiate the deal. They seemed really ticked off but they ate all the ice cream ( Ginger bread man ice cream!! The stuffs is delicious!
